Steps to take after you’re website goes live for visibility

I recommend to all my website clients that they set up a Google Business profile, as soon as possible.

This is such an easy (and it’s free) thing to do, and lets Google know that you exist as a business or service provider. This is what also makes you visible on Google maps AND you will be able to receive reviews on your Google profile, which will help your ranking.

Google Business also provides you with insights monthly, that you can learn to read if you want to - and experiment with your settings or the information you provide. Some of these insights/analytics that you might want to keep an eye on are:

  • Views: see how many times your profile, photos and posts have been seen by searchers.

  • Search queries: learn what keywords searchers are using to discover your brand (a great marketing tool to improve your SEO strategy).

  • Engagement: see which posts are generating the most activity from searchers.

  • Audience: discover the age, gender and location of searchers who discover your GMB listing.

  • Website clicks: discover how many users are taking high-value actions, like visiting your website from your Google business listing.

Google Business is like a free boost to your SEO

Silly not to take advantage of it, right?
I also recommend integrating Google maps on your website, in form of an iframe if you do have a physical address for your business, this is also beneficial for your SEO.

When you are registered, you can advertise

You know those very first 2-3 Results that come up when you google something that says β€˜Sponsored’? That’s a Google-ad. You can pay to have your website boosted in the search Results, or for your listed products to be shown amongst the first results. Not necessary, but a nice option to have if you don’t want to go the entirely organic route.

Keep in mind that

You will be receiving a postcard from Google to your physical address, with a code to activate your account and this can take a few days. Therefore make sure you register yourself sooner rather than later to avoid delays!
